Fifth Chakra
Fourth Chakra
First Chakra
I just finished a chakra series. I’ll share them here in sequence
The first chakra is all about being grounded, running Earth energy. I love the view of Earth energy as liquid, flowing, alive and creative. I wanted to portray the varieties of red vitality, from the hot orange red of the lava to the cool blue red and magenta of the lotus and the glowing pink, which to me represents the wisdom of Love.
Allowing the Flow
I am not an abstract artist. It’s just not my thing. But / and I believe in expansion. I’ve been hanging out with Judy Poldi, who is an abstract artist, and this is the result. It’s hard to see from the photo, but there is a lot of texture in this painting, a LOT of texture. There is ribbon and rice paper and wood and hidden words written in texture medium and raindrops and mud and mica and all kinds of stuff in there.
I was uncomfortable with this painting at first. I had to live with it a while. It’s not representative of my work, and I wasn’t sure if I wanted to sign it or share it. I even considered putting my old cat’s name on it.
In the end, the realization and growth for me was to once again step out of my own box and acknowledge and own all the many facets of my being. So… here it is.
Am I suddenly going to become an abstract artist? No. But I am so grateful to Judy Poldi for encouraging me to stretch and play in a new way. Thanks Judy!
The two hearts represent the aspects of our being, the incarnational self and the divine Self. In uniting and cooperating and allowing the flow of love, we shine and overflow. Or maybe the message is just that Love can be messy.
Tea Time
I started this painting way back when in the cold of winter. I had just finished writing, put my notebook down, and was captivated by the table before me… the antique table cloth, the wooden pen, my grandmother’s tea pot, the cactus flowers…
I sketched out the scene on piece of fine art paper and moved on to other things. Weeks later, I added in a little colour, but then, life intervened and the painting was put away. The other day, I was cleaning, and this little painting popped up again asking to be finished. So… here it is! It was fun painting the cool blue light of winter during the orange heat of July.
Please enjoy this little image of peace. May it inspire you to take a break of your own with a cup of tea and your private thoughts.
Hearts A-Sail on a Hopeful Sea
This painting is from a dream image of the evolution of humanity through the evolution of the individual. The sea represents Life, Wholeness, Oneness. Within the Oneness, we individuate, build our own experiences, steer our own course. Life supports us, Spirit winds offer us power, but each of us must float our our own boat, and open our hearts in order to move forward.
Hearts A-Sail is currently for sale at Two Arts on Canyon Road in Santa Fe.
Heart of Creation
This painting is entitled “Heart of Creation.” It is 20 x 16, mixed media on canvas. This painting was inspired by Julie Ann Turner and her work with “the arc of creation.” It’s all about connecting to the Source, aligning with what Love already wants to have happen, and then taking action from the heart.
